China Quarry Landslide Kills 20

More than 20 workers at a quarry in south China have been buried after a rain-triggered landslide hit their makeshift dormitory, Chinese news agency Xinhua reports.

The incident took place at about 1.30pm (local time) on Monday in Luojiang village near Guilin city in the Guangxi region, which was hit by heavy rain at the weekend, the report said.

Xinhua says rescuers were at the scene working to find the missing workers, adding that the rain has stopped in the area.

A local official at the location declined immediate comment when contacted by AFP.
