Climate Camp activists have shut down the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) this morning, in a continuation of direct action tactics from yesterday.

Early this morning activists set out from Trafalgar Square to the new government department, before wedging a kayak in the doors and occupying the lobby.

The protestors are currently giving out eye goggles to passers-by, according to politics.co.uk’s journalist on the scene.

The group are campaigning against the department’s commitment to carbon trading as a method to defeat global warming, and for a more robust carbon target.

The swimming theme is in response to rising sea levels in Bangladesh and elsewhere.
