Large Earthquake hits off Mexico

A 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit off the west coast of Mexico today, striking 283km from the town of Cihuatlan in the state of Jalisco, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The quake struck at 9.11pm local time (12.11pm AEST) at a depth of 33km, according to a preliminary estimate released by the USGS. There were no immediate reports of damage, and no tsunami warning was issued.
