3.9 Earthquake off Long Island

BOSTON — Some Massachusetts residents felt a 3.9-magnitude earthquake that was centered off the coast of the Eastern United States on Tuesday.

The quake hit more than 150 miles south of Long Island in the Atlantic Ocean, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The heaviest tremors were reported in New York and New Jersey.

Experts said Massachusetts residents also reported feeling tremors in the towns of Weymouth, Falmouth, and Westfield.

No damage has been reported in the region.
