JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) – The U.S. Geological Survey says a 6.8-magnitude, undersea earthquake has shaken eastern Indonesia.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says no destructive tsunami was generated.
The USGS says the temblor struck in the Banda Sea on Friday and had a preliminary magnitude of 6.8. It struck at a depth of depth 375 miles (600 kilometers) far off the coast of Sulawesi island.
It was unclear if the quake was felt on land or if there was damage or injuries.
The USGS says the epicenter was 125 miles (200 kilometers) from the coastal town of Baubau and 170 miles from (275 kilometers) the nearest inhabited area on Flores island.
