Japan’s Nuclear Meltdown Crisis

A number of nuclear power plants have been affected along Japan’s north-east coast following a 10 metre tsunami triggered by a massive seabed earthquake.

Japan is working to prevent fuel rods in two quake-damaged reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi plant from overheating. If the fuel rods do not cool, there are fears they could melt the container that house the core – or explode – releasing radioactive material into the air.
