The Book of Revelation predicts that an army of 200 million will bring death to a third of the population with burning Sulphur, but who is this army and where do they come from?
Nearly two thousand years ago, on the island of Patmos, St. John the Divine was given many visions about forthcoming events leading up to the end of this age.
One of the most prolific of all, was that massive army would destroy a third of mankind, and by today’s figures that would be about 2 billion people.
Throughout history, readers of the scriptures have tried to guess as to who this army might be. Today, we reveal exactly who they are and where the burning Sulphur comes from. But first here’s, the prophecy.
Revelation Chapter 9 Verse 13 – 18 says:
The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the horns of the golden altar that is before God. It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates. And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and month and day and year were released to kill a third of mankind. The number of troops was 200 million. I heard their number. The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue and yellow as Sulphur. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire smoke and Sulphur. A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke and Sulphur that came out of their mouths. (NIV)
One current popular view is that this army could be the Chinese, but there is no explanation as to why the Chinese would want to kill a third of mankind.
It is more likely that the Chinese who are keen to expand their booming economy still further would want to trade with a third of mankind than kill their potential customer base.
Not only this, but the book of Revelation tells us that:
“The time has come for destroying those who destroy the Earth”.
China is one of the worst offenders when it comes to damaging the environment in pursuit of profit and is likely to find itself one of the hardest hit by climate change as a result.
In a few years from now, their main trading ports will be under rising sea levels and much of the low lying areas in the east will be flooded. Already 70% of groundwater is contaminated as is 10% of the farming land and in the near future these figures will be much higher. A large part of the country is currently affected by drought and in the cities the polluted air is often un-breathable. There is likely to be a mass exodus inland towards the north west of the country and raising an army of 200 million will be the last thing on their minds.
Of course before this army was thought to be the Chinese, there were many other candidates.
A few years ago during the cold war, this army was thought to be the Russians and before that, during the Second World War it was thought to be the Germans.
In Napoleonic times it was thought to be the French, in 1449 it was thought to be the Turks, in fact the responsibility of this army has been pinned on more nations than I care to try and remember going right back to 70 AD when it was thought to be the Assyrians.
The general rule seems to have been, that throughout history any country which has had a large enough population has been a contender for the title, and I feel that the interpretation of this prophecy based on numbers alone is unsafe. Numbers doesn’t = Truth.
The fact is that the army described is not a literal army at all and here are the reasons why.
Firstly, modern day weapons don’t use Sulphur.
Having done an exhaustive study on modern day weaponry and this includes payloads, liquid propellants, solid fuel propellants and incendiary devices; I have been able to conclude that nowhere is Sulphur used. In fact Sulphur has not been used in weapons for hundreds of years. The last time it was ever used was in the manufacture of mustard gas but even this has been superseded by more modern biological weapons.
Here is another point and I am going to have to ask you to forgive me if I sound a little facetious. The scripture tells us that the angels and this army have been bound by the river Euphrates for this very hour, this very month this very day and year. If they were a literal army waiting for this moment, I’m sure someone would have noticed them by now!
Let’s take a look at armies in the scriptures.
Whenever the Bible talks about a literal army, it always tells you who they are, who the king is, where they are going specifically, what they are going to do and so on.
Here are a few examples:
Exodus 14:17
I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen. (NIV)
Numbers 21:33
Then they turned and went up along the road toward Bashan, and Og king of Bashan and his whole army marched out to meet them in battle at Edrei. (NIV)
Judges 4:7
I will lure Sisera, the commander of Jabin·s army, with his chariots and his troops to the Kishon River and give him into your hands.· ” (NIV)
And even when speaking about an army in prophecy, the same rule applies.
Jeremiah 20 : 4
For this is what the LORD says: ·I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends; with your own eyes you will see them fall by the sword of their enemies. I will hand all Judah over to the king of Babylon, who will carry them away to Babylon or put them to the sword. (NIV)
Revelation 16 : 12 & 16
The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water dried up to prepare the way for the kings of the East.
Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon. (NIV)
So to find out who this army is all we need to do is take a look at who their king is.
Their king is God himself and it is the voice of God that commands their release.
Clearly this is an army of the heavenly realm and their description falls inline with descriptions of other heavenly beings. Not only this, but their breastplates are adorned in the Trinity colours.
Sulphur itself is yellow in the natural, turns blood red as it heats and burns with a blue flame in the presence of Oxygen, again the Trinity colours.
So what about the burning Sulphur?
When I was given the interpretation of the trumpets and the bowls, this was the last piece of the puzzle to be revealed. Until it was revealed, I was relying on my own best guess and thought it might be something to do with underground fires. Then God spoke to me and told me to look in the Bible to see where he had done this before. Sure enough, there it was, Sodom and Gomorrah.
Scientists have tested the ground on which Sodom and Gomorrah once stood and found it to be mainly gypsum, a bi-product of burning Sulphur. They also found balls of pure white crystallized Sulphur all around the site. The scientists thought that the Sulphur may have come from the African Rift Zone but I was unhappy with this explanation for two reasons.
Firstly, natural Sulphur deposits are always yellow yet these were white as if the product of a chemical reaction. Secondly, if the Sulphur had come from the African Rift Zone then it would be easy to escape the judgment of the burning Sulphur of the sixth trumpet, just move somewhere else if you happen to live near a fault line!
The burning Sulphur of the sixth trumpet comes from the gasses emitted by the Yellowstone eruption.
The two key gasses are Sulphur Dioxide and Hydrogen Sulphide. In the presence of Oxygen the Sulphur element breaks away from the Hydrogen Sulphide gas and starts to form pure white crystallized Sulphur around particles of ash in the atmosphere just like it did at Sodom and Gomorrah.
At the same time the Sulphur Dioxide gas mixes with water vapour in the atmosphere and quickly becomes Sulphur Trioxide and then Sulphuric Acid. As the Sulphur crystals get larger eventually gravity takes over and they fall back to Earth. As they fall through the clouds of Sulphuric Acid they are heated and ignite.
Hence it rains burning Sulphur mainly across the Americas reducing it to ashes and a third of mankind dies just like the Book of Revelation says.
Some die from the fires caused by the burning Sulphur, some die from smoke inhalation and some from breathing in the poisonous fumes given off by the burning Sulphur. (Sulphur Dioxide gas)
Now some of the Christians reading this may be upset that a judgment of God can be reduced to a simple bit of chemistry, so let’s not forget what Jesus said in Matthew Chapter 10 V 29 “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.” (NIV)
Our Father in Heaven is in command of creation, and just like all the other events revealed on this web site, this event has a spiritual element followed by a literal element and like the others, it cannot take place without the Father’s permission.
The army of 200 million is the spiritual element under the command of God and the burning Sulphur raining out of the sky is the literal result.
Why is He doing this? We have done it to ourselves. Hear the words of Jesus, be remorseful and believe in Him.
