Earthquakes Shake The Philippines

Philippines – Moderately strong earthquakes rocked Batanes and Ilocos Sur this morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Phivolcs said the magnitude 2.8 tremor, which happened around 6:21 a.m., was traced 72 kilometers of Basco, Batanes. It was tectonic in origin.

The second earthquake, also tectonic in origin, hit 62 kilometers of Vigan, Ilocos Sur, around 7:31 a.m. It registered 4.1 magnitude in the Richter scale.

Both tremors have no expected damage or aftershocks, Phivolcs added.
