Vietnamese Police are searching for about 13 passengers believed to be missing after floodwaters on Vietnam’s main north-south highway swept away their bus.

Police from Nghi Xuan district in Ha Tinh province in central Vietnam say 17 passengers have already been rescued.

“We are trying to find the bus,” an officer said.

Investigators believe the bus had about 30 people aboard when the accident happened early Monday (local time).

Officials earlier said the death toll in central Vietnam had risen to 23, mostly in Ha Tinh, after heavy rain caused flooding in recent days.
