A shallow earthquake has rattled the Manawatu and Wellington this afternoon.
GNS Science says the magnitude 4.2 earthquake was located 30km west of Bulls at the shallow depth of 12km, meaning it would have felt stronger. It struck at 1.35pm.
This afternoon’s quake followed a magnitude 4.0 earthquake which struck Gisborne at 7.45am on Monday morning, and followed a stronger quake over the weekend.
The quake struck 10km north of Te Karaka at a depth of 30km, and GNS Science says it was likely felt across the Gisborne region.
A 4.4 magnitude quake was recorded in the same location and same depth on Saturday afternoon.
There are no reports of damage from any of the earthquakes.
